MicroHoo - The Deadline
Tomorrow is the deadline Microsoft set for Yahoo to accept their buyout offer. Microsoft ain’t budging on price, and Yahoo ain’t playing nice. Microsoft’s stock; however, dropped significantly today closing at $29.83 and losing 6.19% of its value in one day. Microsoft reported weak sales of both XP and Vista, on top of their 1.42 billion dollar fine they had to pay to the European Commission.
Yahoo has stated that Microsoft is undervaluing its stock and wants more per share than Microsoft is offering. Microsoft basically is saying - oh no you don’t! You take our offer, or we’ll do an end-around on you. We’ll go straight to the shareholders and get ourselves a seat on your board so we can vote for the sale ourselves.
Personally, I think it’s all too little too late for Microsoft. They’ve proven time and time again that they are not agile enough to innovate in the current technology market. They already bought a search engine years ago and wasted it. Then they came up with Mrs. Dewey - one of the worst search ideas ever.
Will Yahoo finally cave in and accept Microsoft’s offer? Will Microsoft tell Yahoo to shove it? Will Microsoft get a seat on Yahoo’s board? And…what about Naomi?
For the answers to these and other questions, tune in tomorrow for Love of Microhoo.
