Free Credit Report - For Real This Time!

As someone who advocates a low-carb diet, I don’t get very excited over sliced bread, but I do get very excited over saving some dough! Thanks to the credit report business getting more competitive, I was able to do just that today.  There are a few different free credit score companies that have popped up.  I tried a couple of them and found the one that I really like is Quizzle http://www.quizzle.com.  It is cool!  They give you your Experian credit score free, and you can repull it at any time.  You can also see what’s on your credit report including who did hard pulls on your credit recently.  In my case, I’m seeing 2 years worth of credit pulls.  I didn’t have any three years ago, but had one four years ago and five years ago. Those are too old to show up.  If you have a problem with the data on your credit report, they have a button you can click right next to the item that takes you to an online Experian page that lets you dispute the item.

They have some other really cool tools too, including

one that shows your home’s current value and just how much equity you have to borrow from.  They also have a mortgage tool that lets you see the rates you can get.  I wouldn’t recommend getting these loans as they are higher than you can get from a credit union such as PenFed and even show some interest only options.

They also have tools helping you with both your budget and your rainy day savings.  All-in-all, not too shabby for free!  I have paid a lot more in the past to MyFico.com in order to get credit scores and credit reports.  It has been worth it as we found something negative on the credit report that belonged to someone else in the same town with the same name and were able to get it removed before applying for credit.

If you try out Quzzle, let me know what you think.  Hopefully you saved some dough too!

I am trying to get a loan to purchase a home, and I need a free copy of my credit report so I can see whats on it. My scores and to see if the old paid accounts are deleted and the old inquries are off my account, and to see if the credit bureaus still have my identity stolen on my credit report, I have not received any calls from credit or bill collectors. So I am hoping that I have enough points to purchase a home.

Quizzle is free and will show you everything that’s on your report and give you their own score, which will give you a good idea of roughly what your FICO score is. If you want your actual FICO score, you can get it from http://www.myfico.com, but they charge quite a bit. They have a package just under $50 that lets you buy the score and credit report from all three agencies, and the score will be the exact same score the lender will see when you apply for your home loan. It’s a good idea to do this once before you apply for your home loan, but I wouldn’t recommend it until after you got your quizzle report and took care of anything you find on there that’s a problem. Good luck on purchasing your home!
