Since it is the 4th of July weekend and I’m feeling a bit patriotic, I thought I’d post some lyrics to patriotic songs I sang while growing up.  This was one of my favorites as I also learned the names of all the states in Alphabetic order.

This is a folk song from the 1800s, but we probably knew it from Dinah Shore’s recording of it in 1951.  I always thought it was hillarious.  Here’s the lyrics as we sang them:
