Rufus Rafus Johnson Brown: Chicken!
This is another song I learned at camp when I was a kid. It’s another earworm that never seems to go away completely. I don’t know what it’s called. I just call it the Chicken song.
C, that’sthe way it begins.
H, I’m the second letter in.
oh, I, I am the third.
and C, I’m the fourth letter in that word.
oh, K, I’m fillin’ in.
E, I’m near the N.
oh, C-H-I-C-K-E-N
that’s the way you spell Chicken

Whatcha gonna do when the rent comes ’round?
Whatcha gonna say?
Whatcha gonna pay?
Whatcha gonna do on judgement day?
Oh, you know I know rent means dough.
Landlord’s kickin’ you out in the snow.
Oh, Rufus Rafus Johnson Brown
Whatcha gonna do when the rent comes ’round?
Acrobat Desktop and Connect Now
Adobe just took a large step in moving our applications off our desktop and to the web. They’ve taken their Connect Pro service and made a verson of it for the web, called Connect Now. In addition, they created a desktop version of Acrobat that competes with Word Processors. And it’s all free! It’s nice to see them taking a page out of Google’s book.
If you don’t have an account now, you can get one by going to http://acrobat.com and sign up.
Loop de loop
I was taught the Padarewski song at school when I was in the 2nd grade. It was the funniest song! A check of the web shows that there are many different lyric versions, and someone found the original too. Woot! This is another song a lot of people learned at scout camp. Here’s the lyrics as I learned ‘em. Read more…
Chase Freedom Plus World Card
I have been merrily using my Chase Freedom World card MasterCard. I chose the card when I fired Capital One as they decided to raise credit limits on all accounts in good standing that had a credit line below a certain rate. My 7.99% was in that rate, so they whacked my interest rate. I whacked them back - got a new credit card, transferred my balance, and used the capital one card just enough to keep it active.
The Chase Freedom World card has been pretty cool, and I even got sent a check when my rewards reached the $50 level. Awesome! So I did some more looking into the card. It let me change to points, so I flipped over there to see if I could get a better deal. My thought was for the equivalent of $40 cash, Read more…
The Poor Old Slave
I’ve had a bad earworm with the campfire song The Discovery Channel made, so I thought I might be able to cure it by looking up some other songs. This follows the same logic as curing a hangover by drinking beer first thing in the morning. I hope it works!
I remember a ton of them from girl scouts and car rides. Even YMCA camp did some. I thought I’d start with a song my parents used to have us kids sing in the car while driving to Grandmothers house. It’s called The Poor Old Slave.
A google search revealed that it was actually based on a song called Good Old Jeff. Here’s the original: Read more…
Microsoft Cash Back - Almost Exciting
MIcrosoft sent me a nice email telling me three things. Of course, the most important at the top was that they changed their branding for Live Search. Whooppee!!!! Yahoo!!!! It’s just what I’ve been waiting for!
What I actually did get excited about was what they put at the bottom - that they were creating a new cash back program for people who purchased certain items through Live Search and MSN. Having Microsoft promote something new and giving people a cash back incentive sounds great to me! Well, almost great.
You see, there’s just one little snag. Microsoft will only Read more…
